Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry

Job Description

The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the UMKC School of Dentistry is excited to announce an opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow position. We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team in conducting cutting-edge research focused on oral cancer early detection and prevention.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Apply spectroscopic and imaging approach to characterize human and animal biospecimens related to oral carcinogenesis.

  • Conduct molecular analyses to elucidate biological mechanisms underlying oral carcinogenesis. Techniques may include PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and RNA sequencing.

  • Perform data analysis for spatial multiomics data (proteomics and transcriptomics) for oral tissues.

  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Assisting with secondary projects relevant to the research goals of the lab. Tasks may include cell culture and working with mouse models.

  • Collaborate with fellow laboratory members and external collaborators to achieve common research objectives.

  • Present research findings in both written and oral formats to relevant audiences.

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports, and presentations.



  • Qualifications

    We are looking for candidates who meets the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, or related disciplines.

  • Background in cancer biology, including experience with cancer cell culture and mouse model is a plus.

  • Candidates with a computational background, including machine learning/deep learning and bioinformatic are encouraged to apply.

    Anticipated Hiring Range

    Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
